The clock by Ernest Miroy, Paris, Last quarter 19th Century
Comprising a clock and a pair of ewers: the clock surmounted by an urn with pomegranate finial flanked by scrolling handles, the case centred by a dial inscribed ERNEST MIROY/PARIS, above a painted scène galante, the sides with scrolling acanthus volutes, on a spreading base with acanthus-cast apron, centred to the front by a portrait within a shield-shaped medallion, on toupie feet; the ewers with a painted scene of courting couples to the front and a landscape to the back, each on a shaped giltwood stand with turquoise velvet top
