Colour-printed frontispiece and 15 plates after Philip Dadd, each plate with a tissue guard bearing a verse by John W. Houghton. (Some light browning.) Original green cloth gilt, upper board and spine with designs after Dadd in black, green, and light-brown, dustwrapper with designs after Dadd on upper panel and spine (extremities very lightly rubbed, dustwrapper marked with traces of label on spine, tears causing small losses).
FIRST EDITION, later issue of Wodehouse's fifth book. William Tell was first published in November 1904 (priced 6 shillings), and McIlvaine lists 4 reissues (one earlier than this of c. 1907); this re-issue bears the price '6/-' on the spine, indicating that it was published shortly after the first edition (probably c. 1907).
