An Aikuchi Tanto Koshirae
Edo period (19th century), the kozuka dated Koka mi chushu (eighth month of 1845) and signed Yoshitoshi tsukuru
The lacquer saya designed in roiro-nuri with areas finished in matte black with rocks and plants in reddish-brown takamaki-e fitted with silver mounts, including a kojiri carved with crashing waves and panels of figures in landscapes, kurikata and koikuchi carved with squid, fish and shells all highlights in iroe takazogan, the kozuka silver with fish, shells and seaweed all in iroe takazogan, fuchi-kashira silver carved with crashing waves and menuki carved as fish on bamboo leaves in iroe takazogan
