The first octagonal and painted in cobalt blue beneath a clear glaze with rocks, autumn flowers and butterflies, the rim glazed in brown iron-oxide, the reverse with scrolling vines and ring encircling the foot and apocryphal Chinese Ming-dynasty reign mark, all in underglaze blue; four spur marks; the second dish circular, raised on a shallow ring foot and designed in cobalt blue beneath a clear glaze with pinks, the edge painted with a band of lozenges surrounded by a brown iron-oxide rim, the reverse with tight scrolling vines and plum blossoms, concentric rings around the foot and a kin (gold) mark, all in underglaze cobalt-blue; three spur marks
