Lot Essay

The decoration on these types of jars is thought to be based on contemporary Tang textile designs. A similar example is illustrated by Liu Liang-yu, A Survey of Chinese Ceramics, Taipei, 1991, p. 196, bottom right.

The result of Oxford Authentication Ltd. thermoluminescence test no. C205g20 is consistent with the dating of this lot.
