Persian manuscript on paper, quatrain in four lines of fine black nasta'liq, triangular illuminated panels with floral arabesque over gold and one with gold arabesque over blue ground, signed and dated in lower left corner, laid down on album page, good condition

Lot Essay

Muhammad Rafi' is recorded as an Indian scribe whose other work is a copy of a mathnavi called 'Valeh and Sultan' copied for the Mughal emperor Ahmad Shah (AH 1161-7/1748-54 AD).

A manuscript copied by him was sold at Sotheby's, April 1988, lot 142, catalogued as the divan of 'Ali Quli Khan and dated AH 1162/1748 AD.
