IRAN, SECOND HALF 16TH CENTURY
Of domed form with central smaller subsidiary dome rising to a flat topped knop, the exterior finely engraved with scrolling spiralling flowering vine overlaid by meandering cusped branching arabesques, the central smaller dome with similar designs, the two bands divided by a band of nasta'liq inscription cartouches, slight rim split, possibly reduced from a larger cover
7 5/8in. (19½in.) diam.

Lot Essay

The inscriptions consist of the nada ali quatrain. In a small cartouche is also engraved O Ali !
