With nickel-finished highly jewelled lever movement, bimetallic compensation balance, minute repeating on two polished steel hammers, glazed dust cover, the gold cuvette engraved Brüder Klumak, Wien 1, Rothenthurmstrasse 15, Chronometer-Macher der K.K. Kriegsmarine, seuls représentants pour l'Autriche, Hongrie de la maison Ch. F. Tissot & Fils, Fabricants d'Horlogerie de Précision au Locle (Suisse), the white enamel dial with Roman numerals, outer Arabic five minute divisions, gold pear hands, four subsidiary dials indicating month and leap year indicator, day, date and phases of the moon combined with lunar calendar and constant seconds, in heavy engine-turned case, the front centred by a blank circular cartouche with engraved initials CL, repeating slide and chronograph button in the band, case, cuvette and dial signed

Lot Essay

Tissot was founded in Le Locle in 1853 by Charles Félicien Tissot and his son Charles-Emile and has been producing high quality watches ever since.

Klumak Brothers in Vienna produced chronometers for the K. u. K. Kriegs-Marine or Kaiserliche und Königliche Kriegs-Marine, the Austro-Hungarian Imperial and Royal Marine. They were also Tissot's representatives for Austria and Hungary.
