According to the registers of the Geneva Observatory, the present watch participated at the 1908 timing contest. It had been prepared and adjusted by the renowned precision adjuster C. Batifolier.
Pocket chronometers by Patek Philippe are extremely rare; the present chronometer is thought to be one of only sixteen examples with detent escapement known to date.
Mainly due to the extremely high cost for production and regulation, only a very limited series of these very precise timekeepers was ever made. It is interesting to note that these chronometers are actually rarer than watches with tourbillon regulator by Patek Philippe.
