CIRCA 1815
8in. (20.5cm.) high;
An ormolu and specimen marble paperweight, modelled with a sphinx -- 6in. (15.5cm.) long; a bronze model of a ewer, on a marmo verde antico plinth -- 11¾in. (30cm.) high; and a tortoiseshell and gold mounted paper knife, circa 1840 (3)

Lot Essay

Christopher Gilbert Country House Lighting 1660-1890 Temple Newsam Country House Studies No.4. A similar lamp to the present, probably from Clumber Park, is illustrated and discussed as item 121, page 145. A pair stamped Messenger is in the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery.
