H.R.H. The Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon undertook an official visit to Canada in July 1988. The following engagements were undertaken; to Halifax (presentation of new colours to Princess Louise Fusiliers); to Sambro (unveiling of a memorial for Fishermen lost at sea); to Canning (75th anniversary of N.S. Women's Institute); to Toronto (running of the Queen's Plate Stakes; new Aquatics Wing of Variety Village); to Hamilton (at Royal Botanical Garden; civic luncheon; visit to Dofasco); to Bowmanville (reopening of restored Town Hall).
