DE LUXE EDITION of this comprehensive history, commissioned by Shelton. According to a loosely-inserted xeroxed note, only 20 de luxe copies were produced, four bound in scarlet morocco for presentation to royalty, and 16 in green morocco. Other recipients of green morocco copies were the author, the M.C.C. Library and A.W. Shelton. Wynne-Thomas p. 28: "To an extent the volume became a kind of standard format which other authors followed for other counties"; Padwick 2498.
