AN AUSTRIAN OFFICER'S REGULATION SMALL-SWORD; A CONTINENTAL SMALL-SWORD; THREE FURTHER CONTINENTAL REGULATION SWORDS; A D.B FLINTLOCK COAT PISTOL; AND A PERCUSSION POCKET PISTOL
The first circa 1798-1811; the remaining pieces 19th Century
The first with single-edged blade etched with the cypher of the Emperor Francis II (light pitting), and brass hilt cast in low relief and including boatshell guard (grip binding missing); the second with slender two-stage blade and plain iron hilt; two of the remaining swords Bavarian, one military, the other a state officials' degan bearing the cypher of Ludwig I (one grip-scale missing); the flintlock Flemish or German, with brass barrels and action (the butt modern); and the percussion pistol also of brass construction with later wooden butt.
