A SCOTTISH BASKET-HILTED BROADSWORD
Early 18th Century
With double-edged blade cut with a pair of narrow fullers extending from the base of the ricasso (pitted), iron basket-hilt of rectangular bars carrying pierced panels, S-shaped bars (one incomplete) and 'ram's horn' bars (one missing), no provision for a rear quillon, retaining an early leather liner, compressed fluted pommel, and original grip bound in wire and fishskin.
