A NORTH GERMAN MILITARY BROADSWORD (TESSAK)
circa 1600
With flat double-edged blade with traces of running wolf mark, the bladesmith's signature and the date 'Anno 1621' all within a group of three fullers on both sides at the forte and both sides boldly struck three times with a mark, the Three Kings, iron hilt of characteristic type, including recurved quillons with mulberry terminals, basket-guard incorporating a triangular solid plate at the front, thumb-ring on the inside, compressed rectangular pommel, and original leather-covered grip.
