A WHEEL-LOCK HOLSTER PISTOL OF THE SAXON ELECTORAL TRABANTENLEIB-GARDE

With swamped two-stage barrel, the breech dated, struck with the initials 'DR' (Neue Støckel 2388) divided by the maker's mark 'DR' above three flowers and a heart (Neue Støckel 2389) and cut with a decorative band over the base, flat lock fitted with safety-catch and sliding pan-cover with button release, blackened full stock stamped in imitation of rough staghorn and sparsely inlaid with engraved horn plaques, spherical pommel inset with a horn roundel engraved with the arms of Saxony and the crossed swords of the Archmarshalcy of the of the Holy Roman Empire, iron trigger-guard, and the ramrod-pipe and fore-end cap each of engraved horn (ramrod replaced).
