A PAIR OF FRENCH FIRST EMPIRE FLINTLOCK HOLSTER PISTOLS FOR A SUBALTERN OFFICER OF DRAGOONS OF THE IMPERIAL GUARD, BY BOUTET, MANUFRE À VERSAILLES
circa 1808-1810
Constructed as a pair, each with 7 7/8in sighted barrel struck with four maker's stamps of Nicolas Boutet on the short octagonal breech (Neue Støckel 95 twice, 97, and another), flat lock rounded at the rear, struck with a small mark, 'M', stamped 'Manufre a Versailles' in capitals and fitted with brass pan, pale walnut full stock, chequered butts (one refreshed), oval pommels with vacant flat silver cap, and iron mounts and ramrods.
