Lot Essay

Leman was a follower of John Sell Cotman and a member of the Norwich Amateur Club in the 1830s, he exhibited at the Norwich Society and was a friend and patron of the later Norfolk painters. Other versions of this composition by Leman are known, including one in the Castle Museum, Norwich.
