Lot Essay

Born in Nottingham, Harold Knight is best known for his sensitive portraits and interiors. He married the painter Laura Johnson, later to become Dame Laura Knight, in 1903. After a period in the Netherlands they moved to Newlyn, Cornwall, before finally settling in London.
