Octagonal box, the centre of the cover enamelled en plein with a rectangular miniature with canted upper corners, depicting Aeneas' farewell to Queen Dido, within a white and blue enamel border on a black ground flecked with aventurine glass framed by two taille d'épargne fluted columns of blue enamel alternating with gold, with horizontal rows of blue, gold, white and black chevrons, roundels and leaves, the sides and base enamelled in translucent red on a peaked guilloché ground, the cut-corners enamelled in black with taille d'épargne gold foliage and wreaths
