A similar ru-type glazed vase was sold at Sotheby's Hong Kong, 29 October 2001, lot 576; while a larger ru-type vase (53.4 cm.) was sold in these Rooms, 2 November 1999, lot 622. The form of this vase is derived from the archaic bronze hu. An example with a design of bands closely related to the decoration on the present porcelain example is illustrated by W.
