A FINE WUCAI 'DRAGON AND PHOENIX' BOWL
KANGXI SIX-CHARACTER MARK WITHIN DOUBLE-CIRCLES AND OF THE PERIOD (1662-1722)

The rounded sides rising to a flaring rim, well enamelled to the exterior with two dragons amidst flower sprays chasing 'flaming pearls' divided by two descending phoenixes below a narrow band of the Eight Buddhist Emblems interspersed with ruyi-heads at the mouth, the interior with a dragon chasing a 'flaming pearl' amidst fire-scrolls

Compare to the pair of similar bowls included in the Hong Kong O. C. S. Exhibition of Ch'ing Polychrome Porcelain, 1979, illustrated in the Catalogue, no. 32; examples sold in these Rooms, a pair sold on 30 May 2005, lot 1508; and a single bowl, 28 November 2005, lot 1373.
