Lot Essay

Pissarro moved to The Brook, 27 Stamford Brook Road in 1902. A number of paintings of nearby Acton were painted between 1906 and 1909. Acton Grey Morning, 1906 and Great Western Railway, Acton, 1907-08 were included in The Painters of Camden Town 1905-1920 exhibition held at Christie's in 1988, nos. 33 and 37. The present work achieved £46,000 when offered for sale at Christie's in 1988.
