Lot Essay
Charles Ginner studied in Paris at the Académie Vitti and the École des Beaux-Arts. He moved to London in 1910 and became a key member of the Fitzroy Street Group in that year, the Camden Town Group in 1911 and the Cumberland Market Group in 1914. In 1914 he held a joint 'Neo-Realist' exhibition with Harold Gilman (1876-1919), advocating a return to nature in painting and the use of solid pigment. He was elected an Associate of the Royal Academy in 1942.
