Maker's mark of Matthew Boulton, Birmingham, circa 1815
Shaped oval, the well-and-tree dish fixed to a hot-water stand and engraved with a crest on one side, a coat-of-arms with motto on the opposite side and with later monogram FI.K on third side, raised on four scroll feet with shell and acanthus joins, the rim gadrooned, with two scroll side handles, the domed shaped oval conforming cover with a gadrooned band engraved with a coat-of-arms below a crest in a foliate cartouche above a motto on one side and monogram FI.K on the other, surmounted by an acanthus calyx and a leaf-clad double scroll handle, marked under cover
