The first tondo - circular - forms in relief were made in 1983 and exhibited in London and Edinburgh in 1984. A photograph showing two of them in the process of construction, including 'Clock', in the Royal College of Art in October 1983, is reproduced in Konnertz (1984). A third circular frame was also constructed at the time and can clearly be seen in the background of the same photograph. The title of the relief - and its imagery - like that of other reliefs and prints from this period relates to the subject of Broadacre City, Frank Lloyd Wright's utopian plan.
