R.F. SCOTT. Autograph letter signed, Victoria Street, London, on headed paper 'British Antarctic Expedition, 1910', 26 February 1910, 2 pages, 4to. In Scott's own words, a 'very frank letter', in which he refuses a dinner invitation, claiming it would be a 'waste of my time', to attend without the hope of receiving help for his 'enterprise'. 'My time is fully occupied and beyond the preparation for my expedition my whole effort has to be devoted to completing the funds'. Only three of the city companies he had appealed to for funds had responded.
