BRONTË, Charlotte (1816-1855). Autograph envelope addressed to her father 'Revd P. Brontë Haworth Keighley Yorkshire' and annotated 'Pd' in upper left corner, red penny stamp to upper right corner, postmarked on verso 7/8 June 1851 (some light soiling), framed and glazed together with an autograph letter signed by her husband, A.B. Nicholls, to [Mrs Sutherland Orr], Haworth Parsonage, 24 April 1855, referring to the envelope, 'In compliance with your wish to possess a fragment of my poor wife's handwriting I send you the cover of a letter addressed by her to her Father', one page, 8vo, on mourning paper.
Charlotte Brontë spent June 1851 in London, visiting the Great Exhibition and hearing Thackeray lecture, amongst other activities. Nicholls's letter of provenance is dated less than a month after his wife's death on 31 March 1855.
