GAME BOOK. The game book of the Walker family, August 1820 - September 1898, at Glenlyon (1820-1833), Glenure (1834-38), Kinnell (1839-47) and from 1848 chiefly at the grouse moors of the Loch Earn Head estate, with occasional excursions to other moors illustrated with approximately 30 photographs and 12 drawings and watercolours depicting houses, landscapes, shooters, beaters and other subjects, approximately 350 pages, oblong folio (occasional light wear and soiling), contemporary roan (worn). Provenance: Joseph, Thomas and Edward Walker; and by descent.
AN UNUSUALLY EXTENSIVE GAME BOOK, covering almost 80 years, and illustrated with a number of evocative photographs and drawings, and extensively annotated almost throughout its use. The Walker brothers were sons of Joseph Walker (1752-1801), of the iron, steel and lead manufacturing family of South Yorkshire (see ODNB).
