Scenic Tarock, circa 1850, Strasbourg, G. Pfluger, 72 of 78 cards (lacks trump III, queen, jack and ace of hearts, king of clubs, queen of diamonds), stencil-colored lithography. Trumps and Arabic numerals are double ended, depict various activities from daily life around the world and scenes from historic times with different illustrations, trump 1 is soldier on guard duty knight slaying a curled serpent, 2 is a charging horsemen//royal couple in courtyard, 4 is a fisherman//sheep herder, 5 is an elephant with rider//badminton players, etc. Courts are double ended, French suits, no indices, square corners, courts in historical costumes have center banner that reads, "France. Pfluger. Strasbourg," aces are named views of Strasbourg buildings, ace of spades depicts Eglise St. Thomas//Halle aux Bles, ace of clubs is Palais Royal//La Douane, and ace of diamonds is Theatre de Strasbourg//Academie.
