Burl wood and papier mache game box, England, circa 1880.
6 x 9.25 x 2.25 in. (150 x 235 x 55 mm). The top of the lid is decorated with mother of pearl emblems attached with round brass studs, brass keyhole and hinges (lacking key, some minor cracking, a few very minor nicks). The interior is lined with decorated paper and contains two decks of Belgian Great Mogul cards in their original paper wrappers dating from around 1880, as well as numerous circular, square, and fish shaped game counters.
