The Virgin supports Christ with her left hand and points to him with her right, whilst him makes the sign of benediction and holds a scroll. The colours are saturated but bright and they stand out, especially the golden haloes, against the deep green background. On the reverse of the panel, a letter explains that the icon was given as a gift, sent from Jerusalem.
