THE MOVEMENT SIGNED ROBERT TRIPPETT, LONDON. 18TH CENTURY AND LATER
The moulded arched hood with pierced soundfrets to frieze and sides, surmounted by later gilt wood figural finials, arched trunk door with gilt-brass mount depicting Father Time around the glazed lenticle, the brass dial with female mask foliate spandrels, silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with fleur-de-lys hour and diamond half hour markers, signed on the chapter ring Robert Trippett/London, matted centre with subsidiary seconds ring, ringed winding holes and date aperture, hands now black painted, lacking alarm disc, silvered and engraved arch to painted rolling moon, eight day four pillar movement with anchor escapement, inside countwheel strike on bell, later alarm work to one side, possibly associated to dial; the English movement associated to Dutch case; two weights; pendulum
