The moulded arched hood with pierced sound frets to the frieze and sides, surmounted by a carved stained wood clasp, surmounted by later giltwood figural finials, the hood with pilasters headed by brass Corinthian capitals, above an arched trunk door with glazed lenticle and gilt-brass mount depicting Father Time, the case with canted angles applied to top and bottom with stained wood floral ornaments, the inlaid bombé plinth on ball and claw feet, the painted dial decorated with figures of Urania and Athene above a recessed panel painted with an Amsterdam bridge scene with penny-moon aperture and with rocking ships and figures to the foreground, the silvered and arcaded Roman and Arabic chapterring signed Otto van Meurs/AMSTERDAM, matted centre with ringed winding holes, engravings around the unusually angled apertures for day, month and date and to the centre of the subsidiary seconds ring, alarm setting disc, blued steel hands, the eight day movement with four pillars, anchor escapement, Dutch rack strike and alarm on two bells, on a later seatboard; two weights; pendulum; cranck key
