with blonde mohair, black boot button eyes, pronounced clipped muzzle, black stitched nose, mouth and claws, swivel head, jointed elongated limbs with felt pads and hump, circa 1910 --20½in. (52cm.) high (thinning to top of right leg and muzzle, slight general wear and matting, discoloured to end of muzzle and tiny holes in pads); and a Farnell terrier with curly white wool plush, clear and black glass eyes, black stitched nose and mouth, black wool plush ears and base of tail and original studded oil-cloth collar, 1920s --19½in. Provenance
This bear original belonged to Doris Storey, who died in 1981. Doris was given the teddy bear by her grandmother Blanch Townell between 1910-14. Doris went on to marry Arthur Close, but they did not have any children.
