2o (337 x 224 mm). Engraved title and 153 engraved plates. Bound by Gruel, blue morocco side with double gilt- and blind-fillet panels, gilt corner decorations, a central gilt lozenge with crucified figure of Christ within an oval frame, spine in six compartments with five raised bands, simple gilt- and blind ruling in the panels centering a single gilt rosette, board edges and turn-ins gilt, edges gauffred. Provenance: purchased from Emil Offenbacher, ca 1952.

Second edition of the famous pictorial Life of Christ by H. Nadal, with plates engraved by members of the Wierix family , J. & A. Collaert and Ch. de Mallery , most after the Italian painter Bernardo Passari, a few after Maarten De Vos.
