16o (75 x 43 mm.) Engraved portraits of Christ and Mary. Very fine silver filigree over silk binding, covers with 10 painted porcelain scenes from the lives of Christ and Mary, each side with a central oval scene and four heart-shaped scenes at the angles, the central medallion surrounded by 12 amethysts, the spine and catches in fine filigree, edges gilt (several stones lacking, one painted scene cracked). Provenance: purchased from Emil Offenbacher, 4 November 1959.
