Title, arms of Pierre-Antoine de Castagnere, 2 leaves preliminary dedications and 87 leaves of coats-of arms, composed of a combination of mounted hand-colored engravings and others entirely in manuscript, each identified in manuscript within rule borders, manuscript headlines, some leaves with margins extended in order to form a uniform size; 6 leaf index at end.

18TH-CENTURY PARISIAN ARMORIAL BINDING, red morocco, sides with a roll-tooled border surrounding a semé of fleurs-de-lis, front cover with the gilt arms of Paris within central medallion, the back with the arms of Pierre-Antoine de Casagnere, spine gilt in compartments, gilt-lettered in one (some very light wear at ends of spine and corners). Provenance: Pierre-Antoine de Castagnere, Marquis de Chasteauneur et de Marolles, elected Prevost des Marchands de la Ville de Paris, 1720 (binding, manuscript arms on second leaf); René de Galard-Brassac Béarn (bookplate); Cortlandt F. Bishop (red morocco bookplate); purchased from Harry A. Levinson, 10 February 1954.

A SUPERB HERALDIC MANUSCRIPT IN A PARISIAN ARMORIAL BINDING, compiled as a compendium of various trades persons for the use of the Prevost des Marchands, Pierre-Antoine de Castagnere. Where available, engravings were used in its composition and where not, manuscript additions supplement.
