Contemporary French red morocco gilt, covers ruled with triple fillet and floral corner ornaments, spine gilt in six compartments, gilt lettered black morocco lettering piece in one, gilt edges. Provenance: Lucius Wilmerding (bookplate).
FIRST AND ONLY EDITION. A rare and very interesting work. "Louis XV was taught to print by Jacques Collombat, a distinguished Parisian printer mentioned by Fournier; and a miniature printing-house was set up at the Tuileries in 1718, where the little boy-who was then eight years old-printed some lessons in geography" (D.B.
