SPECULUM HUMANAE SALVARIONIS. Unsigned and undated pen-and-ink facsimile by Lesclabart, c. 1785, of the second Latin xylo-typographic edition printed in Utrecht c. 1470.

2o (319 x 234 mm). Manuscript facsimile of 56 woodcut illustrations and 56 xylographic and typographic text pages. 18th-century French gold-tooled red morocco, gilt edges. Provenance: Joseph-Jean abbé Rive (recorded in his library by Claude-François Achard); Stanesby Alchorne (bookplate; London sale, Evans 22 May 1813); Henry B.H. Beaufoy (armorial bookplate); Lucius Wilmerding (bookplate; sold Parke Bernet 29 October 1951, lot 862, to Offenbacher).

Although incorrectly described in the Wilmerding catalogue and by Offenbacher as a facsimile of the first Latin edition (ca 1440-1459), it is actually a facsimile of the second (ca 1470).
