Schmidt, folding engraved view of the churches and monasteries on and around Mount Athos PRINTED ON CLOTH, repeated engraved vignette mounted at beginnings of each chapter, folding table. 18th-century green velvet (rebacked). Provenance: purchased from Emil Offenbacher, 13 May 1957.
A very unusual book apparently without bibliographical citation, with only two copies appearing in RLG (Duke, Yale). The text gives an exposition of the doctrines of the Greek Orthodox Church, written by a Macedonian priest. Most interesting is the large folding plate printed on cloth, showing all the churches and monasteries on and around Mount Athos.
