FIRST EDITION of the first printed grammar of the Tamil language, the oldest and best known of the Dravidian languages. The author was a German Protestant missionary who went to Southern India with a Danish mission group. In 1712 he received from Copenhagen a printing press and printed at Tranquebar the Bible translated into Tamil. Brunet V:1534.
