8o (226 x 140 mm). Woodcut frontispiece and border by Charles Ricketts. Scotch deerskin, front cover with figure of Nimphidia at center executed in onlays of blue, tan and purple morocco, both sides with a background of large and small stars in gilt and an outer border of scrolling gilt leaves and onlaid flowers of tan morocco, spine in six compartments with five raised bands, gilt-lettered in two, the remaining with panel centering an onlaid flower as on the sides, turn-ins gilt, edges gilt, by Sangorski & Sutcliffe, with their printed description tipped to flyleaf, fleece-lined cloth folding case. Provenance: purchased from Harry A. Levinson, 1953.
Sangorski & Sutcliffe's printed description of the binding states that is has been "bound in Scotch deerskin, which has been specially tanned and dyed... Deerskin is a good-looking and durable leather which has rarely been used for bookbinding since the Middle Ages... The deer were killed owing to shortage of food during the Great War."
