Second half 19th century
The brass dial plate engraved with foliage and peonies around the revolving chapter ring with pierced steel hand, movable chapters with Japanese characters, calendar apertures flanking, the movement with chain fusee for the going with verge and balance wheel escapement with sliding weights on the foliot bar, spring barrel for the strike train with countwheel strike on a bell above, foliate engraved backplate, the movement on a padouk base with integral key drawer, the glazed case with sliding front and rear doors and brass handle to the top
