A French gilt-brass and rosewood automaton industrial wheel clock
Circa 1880
With large rotating paddle wheel carrying metal balls providing the motive force, the movement with pierced gilt plates and three wheel train with Brocot escapement, each ball falling in turn at approximately one minute intervals onto a three-tier ramp and rolling into an individual bucket on a conveyor belt independently driven by a spring barrel movement in the base, the conveyor belt tripped by the clock movement every minute via linked levers, the glass chapter ring with black painted chapters and blued steel hands, aneroid barometer above, the later rosewood rectangular plinth applied with an engraved steam engine with winding square aperture for the conveyor belt movement; together with a later purpose-made brass-framed glass cover
