A French brass and marble automaton novelty butter churn clock and barometer
Circa 1880
The case with D-ended red griotte marble plinth supporting two brass columns suspending a revolving 'geared' butter churn raking the creamy butter in the vat with brickwork decoration, the silvered clock dial with Roman chapters and blued steel hands, escapement regulation slide above XII, the going barrel movement with platform cylinder escapement, the movement numbered 1, addorsed aneroid barometer with alcohol and mercurial thermometers between, the automaton movement housed inside the butter vat with winding square hidden by a hinged door and with stop/start lever to the side
