A fine Regency rosewood striking four glass clock
Desbois, London. Circa 1825
The case with handle to the stepped glazed top, bevel glazed sides and moulded base on block feet, the gilt-brass dial signed Desbois London on the Roman chapter ring with blued steel hands, the centre engraved with flowers on a rayed ground, foliate engraved spandrels, strike/silent lever above XII, vase-shaped dial feet, the movement with twin chain fusees and spring barrels, five vase-shaped pillars, maintaining power, the brass platform with three-arm balance and lever escapement with silvered regulation slide, strike and trip repeat on a gong of circular section fixed to the backplate signed Desbois, Grays Inn Passage, London at the base, movement securing brackets to the case and with steel bolt through the base into the centre pillar (bolt lacking)
