A George III ebonised quarter chiming table clock

The engraved brass dial signed Stepn Rimbault London in the arch flanked by subsidiary dials for strike/silent and pendulum regulation, Roman and Arabic chapter ring with well pierced blued steel hands, the centre with mock pendulum and calendar apertures, the triple gut fusee movement with verge escapement with cam regulation for the spring-suspended pendulum, hour strike on a large bell with the quarters chiming on a nest of eight bells via eight hammers barrel, the backplate profusely engraved with scrolling foliage and signed Stepn Rimbault London in the centre with pendulum holdfast, the case with brass handle to the bell top and with pineapple finials, brass-lined front and rear doors with pierced and engraved quarter frets, caryatides to the four angles and on foliate case scroll feet
