A fine George III mahogany musical longcase clock

The case plinth with hollow-cornered raised panel flanked by brass-capped reeded quarter columns, on double skirting with shaped apron, the mahogany trunk door flanked by further brass-capped and reeded quarter columns, similar detached columns to the hood supporting a frieze set with later mahogany frets, the caddy top mounted by three brass flambeau urn finials, the 13in. brass dial signed John Monkhouse London on a silvered reserve in the arch flanked by silvered rings for strike/silent and chime/silent, the silvered arc above engraved with the following musical tunes;

The main dial with silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, pierced blued steel hands, the matted centre with calendar aperture, Apollo mask-and-foliate spandrels, the massive movement with large T-shaped plates secured by six pillars, anchor escapement, striking the hours on one bell and playing one of the twelve tunes on each hour on 13 bells via 24 hammers - each numbered - and an 11in. (28cm.) long transverse mounted brass pin barrel
