The case with foliate cast gilt-metal handle to the domed top with later mouldings, glazed sides and later squab feet, the 7in. square brass dial with brass Roman and Arabic chapter ring with sword hilt half-hour markers, the matted centre with ring-turn decoration to the mock pendulum and calendar apertures, ringed winding holes pierced blued steel hands, winged cherub spandrels, the movement with five ring-turned pillars, twin fusees and spring barrels now with wire lines, knife-edge verge escapement with later pendulum and backcock, re-built pull quarter repeat on six bells via six hammers with hour strike on a further bell, the backplate profusely engraved with scrolling foliage centred by a bird above a cartouche signed Henry Massy London, movement and case possibly associated
